Abstract

The high demand for land in various sectors, both agriculture and industry, has encouraged the conversion of peat swamp forest areas. Peat swamp forest clearing through logging and land burning has led to changes in the physical, chemical, and biological properties of peat soils. This study aimed to analyze the impact of land use change on peat soil fertility based on different land use types and to provide fertilizer recommendations for each land use. The research was conducted in Rasau Jaya 2 Village, Kubu Raya Regency. Data were grouped according to land use types to determine the criteria of soil physical and chemical properties. Assessment of soil chemical properties refers to the  BPSITP (2023). The determination of soil fertility status criteria followed the PPT (1995) soil fertility classification for each land use type. Overall, land use change from shrubland to cultivated land at the study site did not significantly affect peat soil fertility. However, increases were observed in several parameters, including base saturation, total phosphorus (P), and total potassium (K) in cultivated land.
